This is my submission for this weeks DPW Challenge. A really great artist by the name of Michael Naples posted a reference photo of a Zippo lighter for this weeks challenge. He invited fellow artists to paint the Zippo using only burnt sienna, ultramarine blue and titanium white. This was a great lesson in values and quite challenging!
Looks great Carol. I will have to try this one. You did a a great job with the three colors. Love how you handled the edges and reflections.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Carol! Didn't know such a limited palette could result in such a rich painting! I'm learning everyday.

ReplyDeleteGreat job with Zippo. I love your version.
ReplyDeleteI also took part in this one. Isn't it amazing how a limited palette can yield such color!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this one, but was sad to see you ran out of canvas on the upper left corner (since I didn't see the original you were using to paint from, maybe it never existed). Still, nice work capturing the metallic colors.
