"Winter Garden Shed"
oil on canvas
6x8
Signs of spring are here! The snow started melting the next day so I had to finish my snow scene in the studio from a photo. I had trouble photographing the painting because of so much white in it. This was the best I could do. I will try posting a better photo when I figure out my new camera.
Carol, this is gorgeous. I love the snow and the feel of this. Great, great job!
ReplyDeleteI think it is so challenging to paint snow. You captured it's heavy and frigid quality here very nicely Carol! Brrr...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job, Carol -- sure looks cold!
ReplyDeleteI like it alot, Carol. Interesting composition and wonderful atmosphere. Will you be painting outside again soon?
ReplyDeleteThis turned out great, nice and loose, and fresh! The dried flowers in the flower box look great, good thing you didn't clean them out last fall!
ReplyDeleteCarol I like the warm sun on the snow as it signals warmth after a cold winter spell. I like that it tells a story hurray for you!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Carol! I bet friend Erika got chilled just looking at all that snow...
ReplyDeleteAnnie Marie - Thanks for checking my blog and your very generous comments!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila! For a California girl I suppose that snow looks pretty cold!
ReplyDeleteThanks Edward, I'm glad the cold atmosphere is coming across in this painting.
ReplyDeleteBlair - Thanks for stopping by and your nice comments, I can't wait to get outside to paint again when the weather cooperates. It's been cold and rainy all day.
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie,
ReplyDeleteThanks, I meant to pull those flowers out last fall but when I was painting them I thought even dead flowers can look beautiful when the light is hitting them just right.
Thanks Erika, It was the first warm day after a bitter cold winter and most that snow melted the next day.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, Thanks for checking out my latest painting. Warm days are coming but I'm sure I will get to do more snow scenes before we see green.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful the finish piece is. How love all those shadows, Nice cropping and the flower and tree add such a nice feel to your picture.
ReplyDeleteThank you for following Dancing Strokes.
Lovely painting. And to do it in the cold, well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill, I'm sorry to disappoint you but I had to finish it from a photo because most the snow melted the next day. We just had another snow fall so maybe I can do another snow scene before spring.
ReplyDeleteVery nice painting. really like the close crop composition. Wow you really know snow.
ReplyDeleteDewberry - Thanks for checking my blog. Snow is all I see almost 6 months out of the year. I have a new appreciation of it though now that I'm painting it.
